Brazilian version of the Princess Diana musical opens in Rio de Janeiro

The Brasília-born soprano Sara Sarres grew up hearing about Princess Diana, whose story was a constant presence in the news during her youth. Now she plays her on stage.

"Diana – A Princesa do Povo" opens on February 27 in Rio de Janeiro and on May 14 in São Paulo. Directed by Tadeu Aguiar, with music by David Bryan (Bon Jovi) and book by Joe DiPietro, it is based on the musical that premiered on Broadway in 2020. Aguiar saw it in New York and acquired non-replica rights to create a warmer, more Brazilian version.
